6th Annual “Art of Living Beyond Cancer” Conference

May 21, 2020 (Omaha, Nebraska) – Surviving cancer is one thing. Navigating life after treatment is another.

Offering the best guidance on living a full post-cancer life, the 6th annual “Art of Living Beyond Cancer” Conference is scheduled Saturday, August 29, at the Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine Street. Survivors, caregivers and medical professionals will benefit from event, sponsored by the Omaha-based A Time to Heal Cancer Foundation.

Thanks to medical advances, many more cancer patients are living longer – but may find it difficult to successfully adjust after treatments end. This conference is a day of hope, filled with help and how-tos, plus educational and motivational resources.

The general morning session features Amy Camie, a certified clinical musician and harpist who provides guidance on using the power of music for personal healing. Her inspirational music is scientific and therapeutic, calming stress and anxiety experienced by cancer and Alzheimer’s patients, as well as those with sleep disorders and PTSD.

Afternoon break-outs feature topics such as emotional resilience and nutrition; functional medicine and holistic wellness practices; healing energy and lifestyle; strategies for coping with body image, “Chemo Brain” and anxiety; and advanced care planning. Other highlights include a book bazaar and vendor fair, as well as light breakfast and boxed lunch.

Healthcare professionals can earn continuing education credits (CEs) by attending the half-day general session, and/or afternoon break-outs tailored specifically to medical personnel and social workers. Topics include coping with compassion fatigue, medical ethics, palliative care and conscious self-care.
